Consumer Credit Counseling

Debtors filing bankruptcy are required to complete two credit counseling courses. These courses are included in the costs of your bankruptcy and you do not need to pay to take them separately. If you misplace your instructional sheet with your username and password, you can call the office and we will E-mail you a copy to complete the course.

Course 1: Credit Counseling (Before Filing Bankruptcy)

  • Before you can file a bankruptcy case, you must receive a credit counseling session from an approved agency.
  • The course will take 1-2 hours to complete, and after completing the course online you must call and speak with a counselor in order to be issued your certificate.
  • The certificate will be sent directly to the attorney. If you would like to print a copy for your records you may, however it is not necessary to E-mail/fax a copy to the office.

Course 2: Debtor Education (After Filing Bankruptcy)

  • After you file a bankruptcy case, and before your debts can be discharged, you must receive financial education from an approved agency.
  • The course will take 3-4 hours to compete, and after completing the course online you must call and speak with a counselor in order to be issued your certificate.
  • There is a limited window of time between when the bankruptcy is filed and when the certificate of Debtor Education must be filed with the court. We recommend you complete Course 2 as soon as possible.
  • The certificate will be sent directly to the attorney. If you would like to print a copy for your records you may, however it is not necessary to E-mail/fax a copy to the office.
